I dont go to shops anymore, unless its something major, this i could do on my own. i got an email from them stating why its impossible to use one.

"Unfortunately, yes, there is a very important reason nobody has a replacement dash for 99 and newer Mustangs. Ford converted the entire insturment cluster to CANBUS technology, meaning the ECM manipulates the data coming from the sensors in a proprietary way. Therefore, completely new gauges have to be developed, something we intend to do at some point. Non-CANBUS gauges will not work with that ECM, and on some cars taking the original gauges out will cause the ECM to disable to car and it will not start."

but im thinkin, how bout toss the ECU and swap for a 98 ECU? main thing i need is tach and speed. hell, since im thinkin bout building myself a megasquirt system, i might even be switching to coilpacks and everything too lol - so its not like the ECU would be doing anything important cept controlling a very few minor things...
