Yea this happened to me about 5 months ago on my 98 GT. Funny thing was i grabbed the sparkplug wire not knowing it was blown out and i got a really nasty shock... i had to helicoil the head, its still holding to this day and has been consistentily tight for months now/

yep ripped out 5/6th of the threads and i didnt know wut to do at first. I thought pi swap but didnt have the money so i the 15$ i spent on the helicoil kit was well worth it i think.

Okay, here we go...If it's a headgasket you would have condensation or smoke out of a tail pipe. As far as a TB ot intake leak, wishful thinking. Check the oil, and see if there is any coolant in it. To check for major destruction, start the car, let it idle and take off the oil filler cap, if there are mad amounts of air puffing on your hand, then God be with you, my friend.

sounds like an exhaust leak. It could also be a blown head gasket, but I have never heard what an engine sounds like with one. But I have heard one with an exhaust leak, and it ticks like that. But your hands around the the headers and see if you can feel wind, and also cheak where your mid pipe connects. Follow the sound. You can also do a compression test on each cylinder to see if you blew your head gasket.
