sounds like a head gasket or a loose spark plug or something to do with compression. that sounds alittle awkward for an exhuast leak. it could even be a collapsed lifter. or a cracked intake manifold?

He blew a plug or two out of the heads. That will give that sound.

Early PI mustangs were prone to that do to poor thread engagment on the windsor heads. When the Romeo heads were released they fixed the problem. BUT it still can happen. Aluminum reacts different to heat so the tolerance given to the plug threads is unusually large and can cause issues if installed incorrectly.
