Default Starts then dies after a sec or so

We did a engine swap after my buddy wrecked his GT bought a 96 V6 and put in his v8 swaped the wiring harness from the headlights back.

Car will start run for a sec or so and die. We are pretty sure its the pats. the fuel pump kicks on when we turn the key but once it starts for a second it shuts off and wont restart until you turn the key off.

I have really no idea whats going on.

If it was the pats all it would do is spin over but is the theif light flashing if then Im wrong and it is the pats more than likely also did you swap the PCM out or did are you tring to use the v6 pcm. you can also try unplugging a few sensors like your MAF, IAC, TPS, and see if it start then good luck

theft light dose flash. But we know that via a test light the gauge cluster is not hooked up.

How would one get around this or fix this. I have no idea when it come's to this stuff

You have 3 options. Buy a hand held tuner and turn off the pats. Re-key the car with the correct PATs code. Any stealership can do it and it's about $60-80. If you're really cheap and you have the key from your donor car, you can tape it to the inside of the steering column.

or take the key and cylinder out of the car just turn the switch to the on position and use a small pick or screw driver detent ball in and pull out the cylinder use the little hole under the column directly below the cylinder

Ok the guage cluster is off ebay. It has the 150 speedo. It has indaglos and the only problem i see is that the coolent light is behind the seat belt light.

It never flashes the theft light on of off. But when the key is off I hear a alarm but its not the car alarm its like an interior alarm. Idk if this has any meaning or what its for. Could be the whole problem. IDk
