Default High mileage?

Im looking for a 99-04 mustang gt 5sp. and was wondering what is considered high mileage and should be avoided? The majority of the gt's of those years have 100k miles and up and they're around 6.5k-7.5k. The ones with around 50k or so on them, are listed for around 9-10 grand. I've seen a few that have around 170k on them, so it makes me think that these motors still have a good bit of life left at 100k miles. I just dont have 8 to 10 grand to spend on a car. However there are several nice v6s with 50-70k miles for 6-7.5 grand. I'd like to have a gt but I dont really like the idea of getting one with much over 100k miles cause my current vehicle is a bagged 00 ford ranger with 177k miles on it...I bought it with 138k a couple years ago and i want to sell it for a mustang. So what do ya'll think?

it all depends on how the other owners took care of the car.... if they took care of it there is plenty of life left after 100K...

i bought mine from my mom. she bought it new from the dealership. took great care of it and i have done the same. 189,300 miles and have had no major problems whatsoever. regular maintenance and ur good. u should get a carfax report and talk to the person selling it. if they street race the thing all the time then i would stay away with over 100k. just my opinion.

I paid $5200 for my '99 GT auto with 105K on her almost 2 years ago. Almost 109K her now and no major issues.
A Car Fax doesn't show everything that is wrong with a car, but it doesn't hurt to get one done.

I bought mine a month ago with 150,000 on it for 6 grand it's an 01 convertible. I picked it up in Florida and drove it back to MN. I had to put a clutch in it but used an oem style for $130. It runs great and I've still yet to see any GT convertible up here for less than $9000.

Also if your into modding it you can build it up better as you break stuff.

P.S. try to stay away from the ones that have been beat on.

Well how would you know if its been raced and stuff? I guess the overall condition of the car would give you an idea.

I lucked out with mine. Its 99 gt vert. I got it last summer with 34xxx miles from the original 65 year old owner. It still had the original tires on it but I had to shell out 11k for it.
As long as the car was taken care of 100k is nothing to be afraid of. Even if you did have a major engine problem you can pick up a 2v gt engine pretty cheap.
