Ok so i just finished my vortech install, and i was thinking that the perfect thing to compiment this boosted motor would be the 03-04 cobra 6speed t-56. Can i swap this tranny in with no problem. I have seen many cobra ditch the 6-spd for a 4r7ow from 99+ stangs so it is just natural for the tranny from the cobra to fit the 99+ gt's. Is this assumption correct?? Because i have my eye on this tranny in a local shop from an 04 cobra for 500 seems like a great deal to me.

Good question. I s/c'd my car a few weeks ago and was thinking about upgrading my tranny as well. How do you like to new power? Fun, huh?

yeah it's great, i just have to get my baby tuned now...but yeah 6spd tranny gotta know if it swaps in..

tranny swaps are ususally more expensive and complicated then that....But your right now that you have a blower, you want an extra gear to use the extra power.

I put in the T56 in my GT. I did not use the Cobra T56. Tremeic built me a custom 6 speed. I picked out all the internals of the T56. I gess it is the same one that is in the Viper. Going 80mph down the hiwaywith 3:73 gears the motor is reving at 2400rpm at 60mph it is at 1900rpm. The T56 came out to $2900. I had the 12" cobra flywheel and 12" clutch in so I do not know if you have to change you're flywheel and clutch. You do have to cut the drive shafted but thats it. I do not know how the cobra T56 is but all my gears are prity evenly spaced.

What do you plan to gain from the 6 speed? I'm not sure which company's 6 speed you're referring to, but the tremec t-56 for mustangs has the same .62 6th gear ratio as the tr3650's 5th gear. It won't drop your rpm's any on that front; it just gives you a .80 ratio 5th gear. Then beware of the first gears because they might make it harder for you to launch depending on whether you have a centrifugal supercharger or a roots or twin screw.

yes a T-56 from a 03-04 cobra will fit on a GT...but u will have to get an 8-bolt flywheel because GTs come with a 6 bolt. But it willl bolt right up to the motor...i know from experience

ehhh, dont think so. Something wrong in it somewhere for that price. Anyways tho the t-56 really isnt worth it to swap in unless you just really love shifting gears that much, but only then that it's not going to do you very much for performance. TKO 500 FTW!!!

i dont know what u guys are talking about the t56 and tremec 3650 have the exact same gear ratios except for that the t56 has one extra over drive gear that u dont even need if u want a 6speed to actually accelerate faster u need the t56 viper spec tranny which has diff gear ratios in it

no need 4 that extra gear. TKO 500, 3.27 first gear will rip em off the line
