Default Could it be the inner tie rod?????

Hello All,

My stang wouldn't pass inspection due to movement from side to side of the front tires. The inspection then says the tie rods failed. Well I replaced my worn tie rods with UPR tie rods/bumpsteer kit last year and I know they are good. However, when I had the car up in the air, I grabbed the wheel and I have about 1/3 of an inch movement when I wiggle the tire back and forth. When I look at the pinion, I notice the lower tie rod is moving in and out of that rubber sleeve by about 1/3 of an inch. Is this the reason I failed?

Some times when I drive the car the wheel with shakes back in forth, but when I am cruising at 60, it is super smooth. Is this part of that possibly worn inner tie rod?

I was told that I could do the inner tie rod my self and that it was pretty easy. is this true?

^ sorry, I failed to mention that the whole suspension is new except for the rack and pinion and the inner tie rods. When I grab the tire and wiggle, its like someone is in the car turning the wheel back in forth. However, the steering wheel does not move in this case.

i would say inner tie rod...i just had to do them on my car last year, same symptoms... grab the inner tie rod and see if it has any play without moving the wheel (jack up car first though)
