Default What's Squeaking?

I have a really annoying squeaking when I start my car up. It's hard to tell where it's coming from since the procharger whistle. I believe I've narrowed it down to an idler pulley or A/C pulley. When I turn the A/C on high the squeaking goes down considerably.

Could it be a bearing, or something else? I'm sure it's not the belt.

Thanks in advance for the replies.

is it like a chirping? is it coming from the front of the car or the middle of the car? try and narrow it down. could be anything. only thing i ever had squeek/chirp on me was my transmissions Throw out bearing.

Well it's from the front of the engine. I know it's not the alternator pulley or the belt. I also know it's not the tranny. It goes away after the car has ran a mile or two so that leads me to believe it is some sort of bearing.

is your belt old?

or...

this may be a dumb question but have you checked your oil? i had the same problem. it would squeak for a minute or two and then the sound would go away. changed the belt and tensioner pulley and nothing changed. then i checked the oil and it was a little low so i changed it and the squeaking stopped...

UPDATE: I sprayed belt dressing on my pulleys this morning and am fairly certain its coming from my crank pulley.

Common?
