tranny swap
 

I have always had a weak 2nd gear (sometimes grinds into second when shifting hard) and after the track last night on slicks I think it is about time for a new tranny. So here is the deal, I have a 88' 2.3 mustang i just picked up to beat around town with lol. What is the difference in gearing with the t45 and the t5 that is in the 2.3? would the bellhousing from my t45 bolt to the t5? or would it be easier to just replace the syncros in the tranny? I can't find a rebuild kit though.

second gear is still fine on the street, i can even shift it hard but just not as hard as i would on the track.

okay i guess i did find a rebuild kit. Still would like to hear you opinions though.

it is to my knowledge that the t-5 is weaker and will most likely have different gear ratios too. if i were you i would just buy a used t-45 off craigslist, but that is my solution to everything

already looked there and nothing but I'm a little hesitant to buy a tranny off craigslist because there are some shaddy people on there that just tell you what you want to hear
