I have a 02 GT that has the same ticking noise. I just rebuilt the top-end of the engine and it still ticks.

But it takes about 45-seconds to 1 min to start and it's only at idle. So I'm thinking something in the exhaust is expanding once it gets some heat in it?

We had #4 replaced with an insert and I thought this was the cause, but I did a leakdown and it was the same as the others.

Also seems like this could be an oiling issue? What if the valvetrain didn't get enough oil at idle? But as the engine revs the oil pressure increases and the ticking stops?

My car also takes about 10 seconds to start ticking again once it comes down from revving above idle.
