Default Got my car back from the shop today... exhaust leak?

this video didn't pick up the ticking sound as well as i had hoped, i need to take a video while i'm driving because it's much louder... but there's a real loud ticking noise coming from the front of the car and it sounds to me like it could be an exhaust leak (at least that's what i'm hoping). i had the engine entirely rebuilt with forged internals, ported heads, stage 2 blower cams, LT headers and o/r x-pipe. the new engine has about 50 miles on it. any thoughts on the ticking noise?

haha yeah i took the video just to get a walk-around of the car, then after i drove it around i noticed the ticking but didn't have the camera on me to take another video (wife took it to work for whatever reason). i'll try to get a better video to post up here, one from inside the car while accelerating and another under the hood. you don't hear it much under the hood at idle or when revving it, my guess would be where the header collector and x-pipe meet.

Most likely an exhaust leak. I had one when I put on my X-pipe and catback, it sucked and I drove for like 2 years with it. I finally got it resolved when I got my long tubes installed. Finally no more ticking under WOT.

wow, it's only been a day and mine is driving me insane. i couldn't imagine 2 years with that. i took it out for a drive yesterday with the guy that does my tuning and he said it sounds like it's coming from either the header/x-pipe connection or the egr. we didn't bother putting it on a lift cause i'm just going to deal with it until i get about 1000 miles of break-in time... and then we'll get it back in the shop to get the leak fixed and put it on the dyno to tune it.

Does it go away when the car warms up? If so it could be piston slap from the new forged internals.
