Thanks guys!

I picked up a '98 Cobra today. I'll have to take some better pics, but for now:

It's just a stock, black on tan, Cobra... for now!

Pretty sweet!! Holy hell, its freakin fast lol. It beats the hell out of my IS300 and eats it for lunch. I haven't done too much spirited driving though, I'm just getting used to the manual for now.

Thanks Yep all stock. I think I'm going to start with some visual mods (HID's, euro lights) and work my way up from there.

I dunno why some of you say the 4.6 is faster? I was in the market for DOHC Cobras until I found the 5.0 I'm driving now. You gotta beat the sh-t outta the 4.6 Cobra to get it to make power. Down low it was dead. The 94-95 Cobras come with a GT-40 crate engine. I talked to SVT about my car and they said that the actual HP number was 285, they underrated it at 245. I think the 4.6 has 305 but its running at a higher level from the factory. The tune is much more liberal. I was also told by SVT that 94-95 Cobras have an extremely consertive tune. Most of you know how badly the 94-95 computers are, I was told I could pick up quite a bit with a custom chip/tune. Go out and drive a 4.6, then a 5.0, you'll see what I mean. Even though from the factory the 5.0 has slightly less HP, with a simple tune you can be ahead. Also the powerband is much broader. I dont have to much trouble with a couple of the 4.6 snakes in my area. The DOHC Snakes are just begging to be S/C'ed. After that its a whole new ball game.

I do think the 4.6 Cobras are sweet, dont think I was putting them down at all. Either way you go, the possibilities are limitless.

I may be wrong but I believe that it's:

96-98 GT = 225hp
96-98 Cobra = 305hp

I've never seen the two cars get exactly the same dyno results for the same year, make and model. So it depends on the vehicle. The list for the 98 GT is 225hp @ 4800 rpms with 286 ft lbs torque @ 3500 RPMs and the Cobra is 305 hp at 5800 rpms and 300 torque at 4800 rpms. So it depends on where you want it in the power band. I like the GT better just because it's affordable for me to drive being a 24 year old with a ticket, an accident and being in the military. I do a lot of driving so it works best for me. If you like feel free to use this to do your research, it's pretty accurate.
