first off when i see LT's they say for manuals only. i'd love to get LT's but i think i have only seen them for autos from Bassani and they cost a sh!tload. if anyone can find me a LT for a 99-04 auto then let me know.

Stainless steel is good, don't worry..but your best bet to keep the headers in good condition so you don't have to change them frequently is to go coated..keeps the heat in, etc..

Dude proven fact here you lose 12 RWHP Before 4k rpms and then after you gain just about 12. I dont see the point in Shorties, this was in Muscle mustang and fast fords. You can easily gain 20 RWHP all around w/ longtubes if your doing the wrong dont be a puss and put a lil more elbow grease in it and put the long tubes on. Or go w/ shorties and get laughed at.

I did shorties and laughed at all these guys. Shorties are worth it, trust me. I actually use them, not just complain about them.

But you get like 8 rwhp from shorties as comapred to 20 from longtubes..if you think the longtubes would be too hard, have someone do it for you..I did my midpipe and catback, but had a guy do the longtubes

Yeah, I am not arguing about the performance gains of LTs. They are obviously better in that aspect. I just get mad when people who don't have $500+ to crap down on LTs and then another 500-600 for install are told they are retards to want to do shorties because it will make their car slower. I know from experience that shorties are good because I drive my car with them on. I have driven cars before and after shorties and LTs, and hell yeah LTs pull harder, but shorties still pull. If you have the money and desire to do LTs, do it because you will get the biggest performance gain. If you just want a cheaper power source, go with shorties.

Long tube envy? Shortie complex? Just kidding.

If I was 99% certain that I was never going to have the money or desire to get l/t's, then I would consider shorties. If I ultimately wanted l/t's or was going to go the s/c route, then I'd just wait until I had the money to get l/t's. The biggest price difference is in the install. Shorties you can do yourself, while most people don't want to tackle l/t's themselves. I paid $450 to have mine installed. So be it. I love them. But close to a grand for 20 hp (and a really cool sound) is a lot. I got mine when I decided to get the s/c.

Yeah if you are going blown, LTs are a must. i should have mentioned that earlier. I have a daily driver, so a S/C setup is out of the question for me! I will be naturally-aspirated unfortunately. Shorties just seemed the most convenient to me b/c of cost, install price, and goals for my car. I think what you want to do with your car will determine the route you take with parts.
