The DOHC head casting has three holes for the secondary chain tensioners on both the front and the top of the #1 bulkhead, so it can be used on either side of the engine as long as the oil hole for the tensioner on the opposite end is plugged off.

LOL I guess you don't know the 4v engine as good as you thought.

If it's the link you posted in the other thread, that is a "long block" meaning it will ship to you WITHOUT HEADS. Unless I'm giving you bad info... Just for perspective, I picked up my car for 5,500... isn't your car about to hit 200k on the odo? Really gotta start considering letting it go, sorry if that's not what you want to hear. Hey go ahead buy the long block but you'll still need heads. Or you could fix that on spark plug hole's threads and put your old heads on the new block if you're crazy.

Thats not a long block its a short block. A long block comes with heads.

Long block is with the heads. Generally long block is everything but the intake.

And for the interchangeable head thing, the 2v is definately interchangeable.

Now the 4v looks interchangeable, but there's the holes where the coolant crossover tube goes that is blocked off on the intended back side. I'm not too sure if it will come out, I haven't given mine too good of a look, since I didn't really care until about 2 minutes ago when I read this. But if those are plugs and will come out, then the 4v heads should be interchangeable just like the 2v's.

OK, so I put my foot in my mouth.

EDIT: nono, the link WAS to a short block, but jojo already addressed the head issue

yeah its a 2v stroked without heads. would it be a good start or should i just strip my current block, clean it up, get a forged rotating assembly and go from there?
