Default weird new problem

So, occasionally i was getting the battery light coming on while driving, it would just flicker and there would be no problem.

but last night, my battery died (forgot my lights were on lol). jumped my car and it was running normally, but as i drove further (8 mile drive home) i was experiences fluctuations in the lighting (would get bright, then dim out a lil bit) and when i put the window down it would dim out, then when i released the button, it would flash bright then even out again. battery didnt hold a charge after the drive home. battery is only a month or 2 old.

no CEL, yet. i've also been having starting problems, have new starter in hand, but havent had chance to toss that on there yet, due to the fact that my wal-mart special "GM performance" floor jack broke...

any idea's?

edit: also weird, i noticed a weird whining noise, sounds like its from center console behind radio. barely noticable. really only noticable as RPM's increase above 1500, in 1st and 2nd gear. 5th has no noise, even up at 2000 rpm's.

your alt may be taking a crap. take it to advance or autozone and get it tested for free

mmm actually it turned out to be the negative battery wire. i need new ones. went to disconnect it before i started on the alt, and noticed it was really loose, tightend up, problem solved. will prolly have alternator tested anyways once i get starter on.

also, where should i get new battery cables and how to put them on? havent really looked lately. thinkin bout a battery box?
