Default Different size water pump

So I went and picked up a remanufactered water pump today and it is a good bit shorter than my old one. My tuner had said that it looked like I had a lightning water pump on my car before. Looking online, the lightning pump does look to be about the same size. Am I correct in assuming the the new pump won't work with the pulley off the old one since its shorter and should I get a different pulley or another lightning water pump..

i ran into that problem myself on my conversion, i was going to use the gt pulley on the mark 8 engine but the mark 8 pump was longer so i just used the lincoln pully instead, i do still have the pully for the short pump if you can use it.

Yea I could use it. Whats the difference, just that one pulley has more backspacing then the other take make it stick out further.

well the 2 pulley's i had look quite a bit different but effectively the only difference is the backspacing. the only other difference is the gt pulley has a flange to keep the belt from coming off the front of the engine, and the mark 8 doesnt.
