Default Spark Plug Blew Out The HEAD !HELP

I'm doing a 5.4 NON PI BLOCK, WITH PI HEADS swap on a stang, its a 5.4 .030, Ported Stage 2 heads and some cams.

Upon breaking down our 32,000 mile 2 VALVE 5.4 NON PI BLOCK WITH PI HEADS, I see one of the holes for a plug has been drilled open bigger and an insert of small length attached, the guy that sold me the motor didn't mention this, *******.

Anyhow, both heads are at the machine shop, what do I tell them TO DO to prevent this?>

If I dont find an answer, they told me , they will weld the head and just drill and retap= EXPENSIVE

Timesert or Lock-n-Stitch is the only inserts to use on these heads IMHO. The Timesert is big enough to cover up a crap repair usually.

Buying heads from an 03/04 PI motor that have the extra threads for the spark plug.

I install Timeserts in all Windsor heads in all holes, I have seen the ones with the extra threads blow out as well.

I can testify for Timesert. I used them on my Northstar Cadillac when I changed the head gaskets. Over 40K miles and they are still holding.

No luck guys,

the Machine Shop Tried All they could with the insert, they are now taking the head apart, welding the spark plug hole closed and drilling /installing a timesert.

2.All of my spark plug threads that are good, will be cleaned and chased

3. 2 exhaust stud heads broke off at the nut on the other head, they are being drilled outand all threads cleaned.

Tear down, labor parts $225 for both heads and 2 week turn around DAM. They described it as "EXTENSIVE DAMAGE"
Whoever did the plug repair was just plain dumb according to the master machinist.
He stated they also damaged the bowl by drilling at the wrong angle and the job had to be done while in the car.

Pics will come after the repair, two weeks is a long time to me, I was planning on getting this done this week, but hey its a Mustang

Only in a Mustang. The van still has PI Windsors and the Crown vic cars still have PI Romeos.

Those were 8 thread heads BTW, like I said they blow out the same as the 5 thread heads.
