Bad lucky with car ;[

Hey guys yesterday it was really hot, so I pretty much had the A/C ON the whole day. I drove around for about 2 hours then parked my car and I noticed a really weird sound, I can’t really describe the sound but sounded like paper being crumpled together but very hard and loud. The sound would only come on when I would turn the AC On. I popped the hood and I noticed on the bottom left pulley there were strings of black material wrapped around it and I took it off. I noticed my belt looked a bit weird but I drove it home. About 30 seconds from my house, I WOT half way just to get in my other lane, when the battery light appeared on my car and the wheel and brakes locked. I almost crashed twice being about 300 feet from my home. The wheel was impossible to turn and the breaks were hard as ****, luckily I got it into my garage and parked it. I popped the hood and there was no belt ROFL, I looked down on the bottom of the motor where the pullies and stuff are and I can see the belt was shredded everywhere. So do I need a new belt, or water pump or did I really mess my car up ;[

I'm typing at work, so I apologize for all the misspelling, I hope I didn't sound like a ELD student, I'll rephrase if needed. Thanks guys

Also, anyone kno the cost of a repair like this. As in price of products and if installation is hard or not (I wouldn't mind saving money cause of labor)

i would start out with buying a belt and putting it on. how many miles were on the belt? it coulda slipped 1 rib off and began shredding.

Wrong :icon_doh:

:icon_wink:

Just a 3/8s ratchet will work. The belt came off for a reason. Spin each pulley by hand and make sure nothing is seized. From your description, you may have locked the A/C Compressor or ruined the clutch/pulley on the front.

Where can i get a belt from my car. Is it going to be needed to buy online, or simple places such as autzone, pep boys, etc

mike08 07-14-2009 10:44 PM

you can buy your belt at autozone or where ever is good for you

Young_Buck 07-14-2009 11:01 PM

Go to autozone and get a goodyear Gatorback belt and do it.....

It will take 15 to 25 minutes your first time.

Hear is a link to put it on http://www.paladinmicro.com/46LBeltPath.gif
