How often do you guys clean the filters? They are a huge pain in the *** to get out, so I was wondering what you guys would recommend? I've gone about 25k miles w/out cleaning.

It took me all of 2 minutes to get it out and put the new one in. If you have a friend help you its a lot easier. I bought a new filter every three months or so.

What filter do you use in them? K&N?

Well, surely not K&N if your replacing them every few months.

A K&N will get as dirty as a paper filter... espically here in Texas where it wasin dirt and floods like a Tsunami just hit Japan!

Exactly why I was asking.

K&N is a reusable filter, why in the world would you buy a new $50 K&N filter every few months? That's just insane, and the reason I was assuming you weren't using one.

I fail to see the point in throwing away a K&N filter. It takes all of 10 minutes to clean them, and the $20 kit to clean it can be reused quite a few times. Not to mention that K&N recommends that you clean them every 30,000 miles.

Throwing them away is just stupid.
