Default Looking at a brake upgrade

So i found a nice deal on a saleen brake upgrade for my front 2 piston caliper instead of the stock GT one pistion it also comes with saleen shocks and hubs etc everything included. really good deal. just wanted to see what the opinions are on these brakes.

Also found a set of 13inch front rotors instead of the stock GT 11.8 inch for $25 wondering if these would work with the saleens or if i should just get the rotors and get some nice pads to go with them.

also would some stainless steel brake lines with kevlar lining from ebay for 40$ be a nice upgrade while swapping everything out?

Thansk in advance never upgraded my brakes before

The new 13" rotors will generally require an 18" wheel and may pose a clearance issue latterally as well, so would ask what wheels you are running. I do recommend you go SS lines at all four corners and upgrade to DOT 4> fluid upon brake work. You do not need to go new rotors/calipers to really improve your brakes, as good pads and the above mods will go a LONG way in helping you to stop in a short distance.

I found these '99~'04 rear brake lines at American Muscle:

They don't look anything like the ones on eBay:

As far as I remember, the metal plate cannot be removed and is used, along with the solid metal tube in AM lines, to maintain clearance to other moving parts.

I would pass on the eBay ones.

Just curious but are the Saleen calipers and brackets designed to work with 13" rotors?

I also have a question.....the front Cobra brake upgrade(1999-2004 13" rotor, dual piston calipers) say that 17 inch rims are required. Why do you say 18" Jazzer? Is that a saleen thing?

^ oops, your right, a 17" wheel should clear the Cobra brakes.

I think you may need an 18" wheel to clear the 4 piston Brembo's I have from the 2K "R" Cobra. Seems to me I have about 1/8" clearance between the spokes of wheel and like 1/2" around the top.

Eagle 2000.... I am not sure if Saleen was upgrading to 13" rotors at that time on the "E" cars, but I believe so. I know the S197 "E" rides DO have upgraded rotors and are 15".... EEEK! In reality, one could install 24" rotors and 18 piston brakes and not stop any shorter than stock ones with good pads and tires. With the ABS, you can ONLY stop soo fast and if the tires begin to lock-up.... your ABS will kick into play.

I like big brakes as I think they look cool and fill the wheel nicely, but are really an overrated mod.

The Cobra R brakes will fit with some 17's but not stock ones and not Bullitt's.

The cheapest upgrade is the Cobra/Mach/Bullitt brakes with a good set of pads. The Brembo's are a great deal but for most people the PBR's with a nice pad will be perfectly fine.

PBR's?

thanks for the info, i was considering a cobra upgrade as im in need of new pads, but i think just new pads will do for now maybe rotors money better spent elsewhere...
