Well you're going to need the white one, its not in the rear... Its on the end of the speedo that bolts into the driver side of the trans. Its an easy swap. however the 23tooth probably wont last long, since it isnt technically a ford made part.. It wont mesh perfectly and has been known to fail. I'd recommend a speedcal if it were my car

It would strip out I believe is what he is saying, in which case the speedo would not operate correctly. Its just plastic.

the purchased gear is plastic, or the piece it will be connected to? i dont want to run the risk of hurting the trans, but if its just the gear, 15/20 bucks isn't a huge loss...

It is still not gonna make your speedo/odometer reading exact
Best bet is leave the speedo gear you have in there and get a Speedcal from Dallas Mustang

The speedcal gets hard wired in series with the wires from the speedo cable sensor. Its adjustable to any gear ratio / trans ratio I believe..

And the little gear itself is plastic, and will most likely strip and you'll need to replace it.

I need to install my calibration gear too. Id like to go with a speedcal but heard they dont work on 96-98s. Anyone with some definitive insight on this? *couch*lizzyfan*cough*
