Default Oil Pressure Sensor - 2000 GT

This is my first post to this forum and I'm hoping someone can help me out.

Does the 4.6 liter GT motor have a sensor within the oil pump that shuts the engine off if it senses an extreme loss in oil pressure, or if air is coming through; like if there is a puncture in the oil pan?

That happened to me after a surveying truck dropped a tripod in the middle of my lane. Lucky me went right over it and it punched a hole in my oil pan. As I slowed to a stop, the car stalled out. I recranked it to get out of the intersection. It stalled twice more before I could get it to a point to cut it off completely, and it started to make a chattering noise - not necessarily a knock, but I won't rule it out as I shut it off before it got too noticable.

Now I'm arguing with insurance because they never authorized an inspection of the internals of the motor. Their idea of a fix was to put a new oil pan on and see if it makes any noise. It surprisingly did not make any noise; and they refuse to do any further inspection of the engine.

Does anyone know if the 2000 GT engine does have one of these sensors? I haven't found anything online about it yet, and the Ford dealer that is doing the work has never mentioned it as a possibility for the engine cutting off.

Thanks in advanced!

Denton

Get all the documentation you can about the incident. You might have to get a lawyer, if you have engine problems because of what happened. Hope everything works out for you.
