Upset about my 02
Well within the last 2 months I picked up an 02 gt and have really enjoyed it, I have the long tubes off-road pipe and loudmouth exhaust(yep a perfect straight shot system). The problem I'm having is the lack of parts and the lack of NA performance. The reason I say this is my other car is a 94 lt1 camaro 383 stroker afr heads blah blah, my point being I've dynoed 390hp and 425 tq on the car with just motor mods, I realize the 2 cars have drastically different displacements, but Im generally upset about the lack of parts no afr heads edelbrock etc... Is it just because the car is new in design and many rebuild potentials arent out there, or is this the difference between a pushrod setup and modular, this is my first ford first mustang so I guess I'm a bit upset that to even get it at 300hp rear wheel i gotta do head and cam work,
So if i plan on CAI, plenum/tb combo, pullies, ignition upgrade, programmer I still wont be at 300??? does this sound right, I guess I was just hoping for a little bit more oomph out of the car... Or is this a scenario where if i wait a few years new parts will be available for less??/
Btw I enjoyed reading a lot of your posts and will try to lend all my LT1 help for u guys who are interested on seeing how they match up

I would just add some 4.10's or some 4.30's onto that. You will be around 300hp maybe over.

Sorry, to say but yes, to get 300whp out of a Mustang manual or auto you will need at least a cam. No need to really go wild on the heads right away. Cheap upgrade is to a Comp Cam 270 and if your auto a nice Stall with a 4.10 rear gear and some DR's. With that and all the bolt-ons you should be very low 12. Don't do the heads and go S/C you will be 11's.

There are alot of parts available. A number of headers, mid pipes, cat-backs, Throttle Bodies, Plenums, Intake Manifolds, Cold Air Intakes, Heads, Cams, Pistons, Rods, Cranks, etc... Seriously, Just ask for some suggestions and I'd be glad to show you some places that make or modify these parts. Ignition is still pretty decent but there are boost-a-spark and and improved coil on plug wires available. There are also underdrive pulleys, aluminum/carbon fiber driveshafts, aluminum flywheel, and other things to get rid of rotating mass. Don't forget about the amount of suspension components available. There are also many decent supercharging options available that are still somewhat affordable (under 4k for parts).

if you want to quiken up your stang, the first thing you should do is get a higher gear,
and since you already have full exhaust, i would go with a good CAI so the engine can breath the best on both ends

Strange most after market support girdle covers add a quart of fluid, making 3qrts needed, I know my FRPP Cover did..
Red line is OK, put royal purple is better. make sure you get the friction modifier if it isn't in the red line already.
