This is a 275/40 on 17x8 R's... I dont see the danger in this at all?

I would have said no, go with 245 since that's what I have but you senior techies made me re-evaluate my opinion.

so i could go 245/45 front and 275/40 back on my stock 17x8 rim and the speedo will still be correct?

The lower 40% sidewall in the back should make the tire pretty much identical in height, so yeah.

Edit.. in calc:
45% of 245mm is 110.25
40% of 275mm is 110 exactly..

I'd call that negligible

+1 on the 275's on a 8''. i personaly like the bulge. and had 0 issues with that size.


wish i would have went a lil wider for the 9/10''er's

i think im just going to paint my stock rims black and go with the 245/45 front and 275/40 back. so i get black rims which is the color i want and the staggered look . i feel the 35th anny rims will look good in black and it will be a little different than everyone else.

I run that tire on my 17x8. They do bulge out a little on the sides (which I'll be fixing with 17x9 chrome 5 spoke saleen wheels this winter =D) but my car doesn't "float" or anything like that. Haven't had an issue or problem..oh except for traction of course.
