Default Auto to Manual Swap

I have a friend that is wanting to install a manual in his Supra. Can he just throw any manual pedals in his car or does it have to be some from another Supra. He has the throttle cable and clutch cable and all that. Just need to know if you can throw a set of pedals in any car and make it work.

Well I would say unless he's great at fabrication, I would recommend just getting a set from another Supra. Would be much quicker and simpler. Finding something to fit under the dash could be difficult, let alone ones that would bolt in the proper location. Another thing to consider is how the cable would connect to a different set (if it even is a cable set up, may be hydraulic).

I know this is a mustang forum. I figured I could try and help him out real quick. I was only trying to ask some guys that know their stuff about an automotive question. Won't happen again. But thanks for the insight on the job.

Sorry if I overstepped with the question. It is just hard to come across a Supra to take parts from and trying to do the job with different parts with the same end result. You didn't need to highlight everything in red man.

He knows the tranny is going to cost a pretty penny. I can't believe how much parts cost for a Supra. RIDICULOUS!

Just an fyi, dude....since it looks like you never got an answer....

The cost to swap a Getrag 6-speed manual tranny into your friend's car is going to run you anywhere from $6-7K if he does the work himself...or $9-10K including labor costs if someone else does it.

If he wants to go the cheaper route, he can always get an R154 out of a MK3 supra and save some money.
They are still good for up to 500hp or so.

Hit up craigslist or supraforums and see if you can get some reconditioned parts.

Good luck.
