like eric said......50 cent price difference means less than $500 a year for most of the mustang owners on the board. you spend more than that for some tinted headlights and an exhaust.
I knew when I bought my car what it is...a sports/muscle car...it isn't meant to get good gas mileage...and I planned that in my funds for buying the car. And gas shot from 2.45 to 3.15 a month after I bought it. $5 a fill isn't gonna make or break me...and if it is you prob shouldn't have a stang...you should have something a little more cost effective.
it's meant to be driven and driven hard! I really don't see 20+ mpg bad anyway...better gas mileage than my wife's escape haha

Why worry about gas mileage? Hmmm, if your mileage takes a dive, it means there's something amiss in your car and it needs to be fixed (assuming a consistant driving pattern). Why not get good gas mileage out of any car, regardless if it's a V8, V6, I4, etc.? If I can drive a 300hp car that gets 27mpg, why would I drive a 120hp car that gets 30mpg (why would anyone really drive a 120hp car)? Everyone in here will drive their car how they want to drive it, regardless of how much anyone else in here rants.

colorado I think you missed the whole point of the thread....it's about gas mileage with gears. If you want gears that bad you really shouldn't be worrying about mpg IMO.

Sure you can. Different type of car, but a good example nonetheless. My '71 with 3.25's averaged 11mpg. Switch to 3.80's and I'm not getting 14 or so.
A few hundred rpm on a fuel injected engine won't drastically affect mpg. Besides, it's likely some people won't notice after the fun factor has the driving back to normal.
To some, gas mileage will be a consideration when doing anything with their car. And it's a valid question to ask what the negatives of modding a car will be instead of just concentrating on the positives.

I really check my mileage just (1) to see if anything changes drastically indicating a problem (2) to brag to people who don't have a cool mustang and still don't get 22MPG or better with 300HP crank.
Can't remember if I already told this story. Was at the Shell station and caught a dude and his old lady eyeballing my GT while we both filled up. This was months ago when everybody was really flipping out over gas $$. Finally, he spoke up from his Hyundiaiaia butlatra or whatever Koreanachincese ricer toaster he was filling up. "What kind of mileage does that thing get", he asked me. I pulled out my mileage records from my door pocket and also showed him my current fill. His fact turned colours. He felt like a real idiot driving that 4 seat Elantra or whatever he paid well more that 16k for and was getting like 16Mpg. My sister in las had a Hyndiaiaiai and got 18MPG or worse. Those little v6 Accururds get like 17MPG according to 2 people at work. It's just funny how retardely fast and cool my GT feels and those people are driving around in 15k to 35k turdburnders that get worse mileage and aren't even cool. I'm sorry, I'm biased, I have to laugh. Long live the economical AMERICAN rear wheel drive muscle car!!!
