Hi everyone. Im somewhat new and just sold my beloved 2000 modifed Mitsubishi Eclipse GT. I loved it but the problem was it was my first car. it was automatic as well

I just sold it and Im looking to buy another car. at first I was looking at heavily modified 99 eclipse gsx's or other modifed japanese cars.

Then my parents were talking to me saying they dont want me to buy a modded car because its mostly likely been raced. they said I had to buy a stock car and they would help me out with some $$$.


I want something that looks nice and has a lot of potential. Ive been looking at the mustang gt's like an 01 or 02 maybe. then I came across a 99 mustang cobras.

the stock horsepower was 60 more being 320 instead of the gt being 260.

My bros friend has a nice 99 cobra with 63k miles and exhaust short shifter and air filter. for 12500 firm. Its black with black leather. I want a car I can mod to be pretty fast.

what do you guys think should I go for a different car or should I go with an 01 or 02 mustang GT or the 99 cobra......thanks so much

I would buy the 99 Cobra since your parents want you to get something thats not modded. Plus the price that guys asking is a pretty good deal. Just my opinion.

Not a bad year, just the first year of new body style..

They had problems with the intake not delivering the rated power, but the cars were still very powerful, and the intake would probably be changed if you were modding.

exactly! and 99 was the worst year for the cobra get a 98.5

most of the cobra problems dealt with the intake manifold, which was most likely replaced due to recalls.

i'd go cobra, that's for sure!

for 800 bucks + install you can get the eaton blower thats stock on the 03-04 cobras and put it on there. good deal!

Yea, go with the Cobra and put the supercharger on it. I wish i had gotten a SVT cobra. I had my choice between a Blue Vert '04 SVT and my Mach1. I chose the Mach because i was affraid of rolling hte vert. But now as i look back on it i realise that I should have taken the SVT. So dont do anything you may regret. But dont get me wrong...i love my car!!
