Default A/C compressor cycles on and off

I have a 96 Cobra with only 11,000 miles. The car was in storage for 12 years, The air conditioning is not working that well. You can hear the compressor clicking on and off. I felt the a/c line and it was cold. From what i read this could be caused by low refridgerent. Is it normal to lose some over time? I guess some other part is broken makling the compressor turn on and off?

I would say with it being in storage for 12 years it's normal for it to leak some. In fact the seals will dry up a bit if the a/c hasn't been ran in awhile. If your clutch is cycling rapidly on and off, you're low.

In case reassurance is needed, I agree.

actually my AC compressor did the same thing after I recharged the system on my 02 Mustang GT. I assumed it was shot because after my 02 sables AC sparked up and caught fire the AC compressor on that car started doing the same thing cycling on and off rapidly and putting a load on the engine at the same time.

Low refrigerant... have it charged and injected with dye incase of leaks

Mine cycled on and off and it ended up being a switch (like $5 part and 5 minutes to change). The dealership put in a new compressor and everything and it kept doing it. Turned out to be some cycle switch that was near/on the firewall.

compressor cycle switch on the accumulator is what Pikuoff is talking about.

arent the compressor's suppost to cycle once pressure is met? mine cycles in intervals of roughly 45sec's to a minute .

OP, id get one of those DIY cans with the guage, their cheap and will give u a better idea of what ur lookin at.
