Diff. between Ebay CAI and Name brand
I know you usually get what you pay for and I already know that K&N, MAC, March, etc. are better CAI's than the ebay CAI's. Why? There is a filter mounted inside the fender well connected to a tube that takes the cooler, more dense air to the engine. I get that part, but what makes the high dollar CAI's better than the Ebay CAI's. It isn't that the ebay CAI's are metal piping because most of the name brand CAI's are metal also. I have even read posts that say that the ebay CAI's may actually decrease HP. Is this true?
Also, what would be better, a good CAI or UD pullies? Same cost right?

meh.. the ebay ones are basically the same thing as MAC CAIs. you're not going to feel any difference in power no matter which CAI you go with. you might feel slightly better throttle response, but that's about it.

You can expect 3 horsepower out of a CAI and like nanaka said its mainly felt through throttle response. I really dont recommend buying a 250 CAI just for its name. Just go on Ebay and buy one. I put the fenderwell one on mine and felt a small amount of respose from it.

i have an ebay one, felt no change, but that's really not what i bought it for, i bought it to mount my nitrous nozzle
buying a big name CAI does, however, have the benefit of far more R&D testing, wherein a bigger company would experiment with different pipe diameters, bends, angles, and the like in order to produce the best gains for your application (be it mid range, low end, or top end)
although, like a lot of things with us poor, normally aspirated guys, the cost/benefit ratio is pretty ****ty, and in my opinion, a cold air intake is often not actually worth the dough; but just like on easter, i may not believe there's a heaven... but i still say grace... just in case
