Hood scoop install question
Hey guys, I've got a 99 GT without the 'GT' hood scoop. I bought a used scoop and had it painted to match my Laser Red stang. Can someone take a measurement for me? I need to know the exact distance between the back of the scoop edge and the edge of the hood so I know where exactly to place the scoop before drilling any holes. I appreciate the help as I have no template to use since I bought the scoop used. Thanks!!! Grog.

RE: Hood scoop install question
I added a 35th Ann. scoop before I put my shaker in. I understand your concern, but it doesn't need to be exact like the shaker did. I just did it by eye, and by marking down a center line on tape placed on the hood. All you do is just follow the natural curves of the hood. Try this link too, it might help. http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/scoops.htm

RE: Hood scoop install question
I gave it a rough measurement. The hood is sloped and my tape measure is straight so it might not be exact. But its 42-43" from the back of the scoop to the front of the hood and 26" from the front of the scoop to the front of the hood. I hope this helps a little.

RE: Hood scoop install question
First get some posterboard and set in on there to make a guide for you. First put in on there and outline around the screw posts on the bottom of the scoop so you know where you need the holes. Now go ahead and poke the posts through those holes and outline the scoop. Now cut it out, find the correct placement, and use those holes to guide your for your drilling. Now pull that off and replace with the real hoodscoop.
