Default How to change trans fluid in the tr3650

Gonna change my fluid out to the recommended 3.2qts ford recommends and I waas wondering, where is the drain plug on the 3650? Also, can you fill the transmission with fluid from the top? I mean, take off the shifter and pour the fluid in the top like in the car? Thanks for the help and yes I did a search but came back with fuzzy instructions.

The plug is on the passenger side (middle to rear before the tail shaft) and uses either a 3/8's or 1/2 ratchet head, IDR. Use Mobil1 synthetic fluid. Yum, that stuff works! Yes you can take off the shifter to fill it.

+1 on pulling the shifter to fill it, waaay easier than using the "fill" hole

Oil has to be a little warm right? Thinking about doing this tonight after work. Got a shifter and its kinda notchy and I believe from what I've been reading the fluid change from 3.8 to 3.2 should fix my 1-2 shift clunk and maybe help my 2-3 shift problem. Thanks for the help on the fluid always good to have real world input!

It's ATF, it flows like water at normal temps...

Well I don't know what fluid was in it before. I went with dex III/merc 3.2qts and it helped out a bit but I still need 2nd and 3rd gear synchros replaced.

My synchros have been toast a while. I'm waiting to have the money to rebuild the tranny.
