Need to know what is wrong
I am seeing all of these Auto mustangs say they are running 14.1 in the quarter and i have everything they have plus some and i cant get better than a 14.7. i just dynoed at 243RWHP and have all the mods besides the 4.10's in my sig (theyare going on in a few weeks) what is the deal if it where a 5 speed i would say that it was the driver but there is not much to an auto. if this will help i have been getting 2.1 60's.

There is a lot of factors when it comes to racing. Driver ability, track conditions and prep, altitude, your cars set up, and so on. You cant just look in a magizine and think thats what you're suppose to run. Those guys are professional drivers and on a specially prepped track for best results for a good article.

Practice def helps, even with an auto. My first few times out I ran 14.6's but after some practice i'm down to the times in my sig. Try a few new things and you'll be in the low 14's in no time.

RE: Need to know what is wrong
are you goin to the track after it rained a day ago? (thats a no no)
are you warming your tires?
are you running a full tank of gas? (thats a no no)
are you running on almost empty? (thats a no no)
are you on stock tires?
what kind of altitude are you doing your runs at?

i have been running on a full tank and i had Drag Radials during those times and cant remember if it had rained or not. Can some of you more experienced racers with autos give me some tips on what to do to help me a little.. i have did all of these time a KCIR in Kansas City.

Well... im no auto driver but Ive raced them before. Heat the Nittos up well. Come to the lane and stage. Once you have staged press the brake and give it enough gas so that you wont spin but you have loaded the suspension well. After the light turns green let go of the brake as you apply the gas. If you start spinning then let out of it a little. Thats about all the advice you need in an auto.

RE: Need to know what is wrong
are you holding the brake with one foot and reving to 1500 rpms or so then launching? that little bit will get you off the line quicker but your speed should reflect horsepower and trap time and that speed is too fast for 14.7's. are you spinning on launch (hard to imagine with d/r) but if you got better launches it will help your e/t but you will still trap at the same speed. with gears, you will be easily low 14's/high 13's
