EGT where is best place

On my o2 gt (long tubes installed) where is the best place to install the probe without taking the headers off, so if its on a lift where is the best place to mount it, I doubt the collector since I'm sure the gases would cool off by the time it reached there, anyone get it done..

The best place for it is in the mid pipe just after the header connection. Mine is on the driver side.

why do you need a EGT gauge? heres what i did. i got an aviation EGT gauge that had 4 sending units one fore each slinder cept these sensors were like the size of a small carrage bolt head.

that way there was absolutly no restriction what so ever

That's further downstream than recommended. The closer the pyrometer sensor is to the cylinder head the better.

I thought I wanted to keep the gauge close to the heads... that far down by the collector has to have some varience and cool down so I would think it wouldnt give close numbers at all, btw was is the optimal/safe temp for our NA cars

Well you have to remember... I dont have LT headers, so mine is right by the heads bassically.

RE: EGT where is best place

so even with long tubes wouldnt u want it as close to the heads as possible???

Thats what they say... but your temps arent going to cool down much at all between the head and the collector... ESPICALLY if you have ceramic coated or Jet hot coated headers... and please tell me you have the ceramic or jet hot headers. I wouldnt have wasted my money on just regular ones.

jet hot coated $500 out the door, I'm sure I could have found cheaper but summit had them in stock
