S/C Help. How does the intercooler come into play?
Ok so I need your help real quick. can somebody explain the me where exactly the intercooler comes into play on a s/c setup? Is it for the air coming into the charger, or the air going out of the charger to the motor? And if it is for the air coming in, how are they usually hooked up? I am going to purchase "Vortech Air Intake Assembly for 1996-2004 Ford Mustang GT with 4.6L" but do
I need something different if I want to use an intercooler and not just a non/intercooled system?

That kit you posted is for the air coming into the supercharger. An "intercooler" is a device that goes between the supercharger and engine. This is used to cool the air that is going into the motor. I recently installed one because at 13lbs. of boost my air-intake-temperatures were getting in the 160-degree range. That is waaay tooo hot, and the computer will retard timing in order to not blow up. This means that the car is not making hardly any power.
This is a very general idea, but hopefully you get the point.

Yes, you need a CCW unit. I had a vortech s-trim first for many years, then later added an intercooler. Of course you will need piping, couplers, and some good t-clamps if you are making a lot of boost. Also maybe a bigger bypass valve for over 12lbs of boost.
Good luck,
