Default Cracked intake manifold.....

I just noticed my intake manifold is cracked, my car is an 01 Gt with 83000 miles is this normal for this many miles? Or is there something else that could be wrong to cause this? Last question should i upgrade from stock or would it be a waste of time, no upgrades on car besides headers, air intake and exhaust.. Thanks

No that's not normal, and no i would not upgrade if you are just sticking with bolt on stuff.

That was a limited time settlement (not recall) from Ford that is no longer valid. It allowed people with a cracked intake or those that had it replaced at their expense have ford reimburse them for their expense or replaced the intake for them if it wasn't already replaced.

So its not normal ok thanks, what could be the cause? Im guessing it would be extreme heat, meaning something else needs to be fixed before i just replace the intake?

Mine cracked many years ago........most stock ones do. It's nothing to worry about. I would just replace it with a stock one. I think they are around $200. Aftermarket ones are 2 to 5 times more.

Later,
Derrick

Cracked at front left right in front of fuel injector port, should i go with the dorman with "the reinforced alluminum coolant crossover" or the ford one that doesnt say anything about reinforcing anything?....

the one from ford should have the aluminum cross over already. You can double check with whoever you are buying it from, but I don't see them selling the out-dated know-to-break intakes.

I paid I think $235ish for mine back when my 99 sprung a leak.
