Default A/C Compressor Pulley Sparked and Lit on Fire

I started up my car and began driving. I noticed immediately and different feel on the pedal and a faint burning smell coming from my engine bay.

As I drove and came to the first light on my street a large amount of smoke seemed to come from my engine bay, so i pulled over right away and saw sparks and small flames almost coming from the lower half of the A/C pulley.

Does anyone know what could have caused this or how the repair process will be from here on out? The engine is brand new, the timing chain shattered and spewed metal shavings into my oil so had to get a brand new engine about 2 months back.

Thanks.

What was burning? I'm sure it wasn't the pulley. Maybe the compressor locked up and burned the belt, or go one step back from that, the bearings in the compressor locked it up?

yea that happen to my 2000 gt it was the compressor clutch locked up and burn up everything. it was gonna cost me a pretty penny so i just got a/c delete pulley to get the car running again and got rid of it and bought a 04 cobra.
