Default Questions about a Mark VIII Engine swap.

Lets start by saying that I did search, but I couldn't find any solid answers. I was acting an *** and popped a head gasket on my car. Long story, but I am not changing the HG since I have had nothing but trouble with this particular motor in this car. Even after a rebuild (Knocking, coolant loss, etc) I would go with a PI motor, but I am taking it from a Pick U pull and Mustangs and PI's are damn near impossible to find. Mark VIII's aren't however, so I am thinking about putting it in my mustang.

I will be getting the long block for $119 so it's cheap enough.

What exactly is required for this swap and I mean REQUIRED, not "Get the 99 cobra heads cause they make more power". 280HP from the Mark VIII is plenty enough for me. So my checklist:

1. Will the stock Mustang wiring harness work?

2. Will the stock computer work?

3. Will the 2v accessories work? (A/C, Power Steering, etc)

4. Will the 2v clutch work?

5. Will the Mark VIII intake work, or will I need the Cobra Intake?

6. Will the 2V headers work on the 4V heads?

Thanks in advance.

I'm doing the same swap, motor is completely modular to my cobra, i belive its the cams/intake are the only difference. intake yes, and either entire heads, or just the cams inside. other than that, you have a cobra motor with a teksid block and forged crank

Ok, what about the headers? I think that they will work because the passenger side one has the same part number as the GT, but the driver doesn't. I know that the Mark VIII on the drivers side has the catalytic converter attached to the header, so that may be it.

Doesn't the computer need to be flashed to a cobra since I have a GT, or does it work out of the box. Oh and I think I have the 6 bolt fly wheel.

Mark 8s do not have forged cranks.

Yeah that. Also, one last thing, since Cobra intakes are hard to find and freaking expensive when you do, will the 97-98 Mark VIII Intech Intake work? I found several sites that said yes, but I wanted to confirm.

4v and 2v exhaust ports are different shapes so you'll need the 4v specific ones but IIRC everything else is the same.

everything works together except the exhaust manifold, 2v and 4v have different ports... the wiring of the GT will need to be extended though... the only difference is intake manifold and camshafts. I am doing this swap to my GT and that is as far as I know.. it is almost a bolt on..

Nice. Will have to figure out something with the headers.
