ok so today i went to this guys house to look at a 99 gt coupe. the car only has 27k miles on it. the exterior was in pretty good cond for bein 6 years old. The paint was alright. The interior was a little worn. especially the drivers seat. the engine looked good but had a few small rust spots on it. it started right up and i took it for a test drive. it drove fine but idk i thought i felt like a little bang or something when i shifted into 2nd gear. i mreally not sure maybe its normal for a 99 gt. ive never driven a newer style 5 speed gt before. i think there was a little bit of vibration in the shifter when i shifted. im not sure if thats normal on a 99gt. the car is bone stock. but im very curiosu about the miles. the odometer only reads 27k but idk the interior seems like its been driven more than 27k. is it easy to set back the odometer on a 99 gt? thats the only thing im questioning about buying it. im offering him $8,600. so i figure if it needs a new clutch ill put a new clutch in and then maybe a 5.0 shifter. but can anyone please leave me some feedback. im really worried about the mileage on the car PLEASE!!!

Offer him $8,000 even and you have yourself a decent deal... THe only way to really circumvent the odometer is to detach your speedo cable on those cars... A lot of low mileage foxbody cars are the result of sly owners driving around with the speedo cable detached to preserve value. He could have used it around town... In almost 1.5 years I've put less than 8k miles on my car.... so it's possible.

Either that guy just seriously misused and didnt take care of his vehicle or those miles are fake. Because he could easily sell it for more if it really had that amount of miles....not thousands more...but at least $10k. But from i'm guessing he just really never put it in the garage and never washed it so it has a few minor wears and tears on the inside and out.

Hey Geoff how much was he asking originally? You have to remember its a six year old car its going to have some blemishes on it.

he was originally asking $9700 but the car is not worth that much. KBB only has it for like $8600

I'd steer clear of this car altogether. Trust your first impressions. A car that is less than perfect inside is usually much less than perfect mechanically as well.

Why dont you check the tires? She should have original tires with only 23k miles on her, right?
Anybody know what was the original tire for 1999 GT?

I just got 1999GT myself a month ago. She had only 32kmiles but top of the
steering wheel,**** **** and radio volume button was worned off. So I was very skeptical about the milage.
However, the engine and exterior was clean......anyways mine had General tire...I am not sure if that is
original tires. Anybody know?
