is it a really bad cranshaft?

i took my 1999 cobra to several mechanics to see what was wrong with my car because it was doing a ticking noise after 2300 rpm

and 3 mechanics said my crankshaft needed to be replaced

i dont really trust them....could that ticking noise be because of a bad crankshaft?

They probably think that it spun a bearing. If so, then the crankshaft COULD need replacing, or it could just need to be machined.

If its a rod bearing toulll get a knock, not a tap.and it'll do it at idle too. I'd pull the valve covers 1st. And if the crank is hurt u can usually go .010 under, get bearings for that app. Unless the stress cracked it then its fubar

If the journal is damaged but not cracked, they will grind the crank. Each step down is in "10s"

True, but judging from the OP's posts, I highly doubt he'll be tearing down the motor himself and then re-assembling everything.

OP, you're looking at a few grand.
