Default Just Spent 3K!!!

Well, 3 grand doesn't quite go as far as it used to these days. Today I ordered:

TKO 500 w/ .64 final gear ratio
Bellhousing
Spec Stage 3 Clutch assembly
Firewall quadrant and clutch adjuster
Aftermarket flywheel
Yoke

The install is only costing me 400 bucks (included in the 3k) but unless something else works out fairly soon it looks like there will be no supercharger for me this summer . Stupid t-45!

At least I should be pretty well bulletproof from the flywheel to the rear end. I have given some thought to a aluminum driveshaft and getting the rearend reinforced. With the 3650 like overdrive I am also considering a swap to 4.10s, as the first gear in the 500 isn't as steep as the 45.

On a t-45? Yeah, one missed shift and he's walking.

Smart move, makes way more sense to bulletproof your driveline first. I'll be on the market for a transmission soon. Let me know how the TKO works out for you. I've heard a couple horror stories of the TKO and leaky seals and warranty work...

I agree with the other crowd. going with a beefy drivetrain is a better decision than going with a beefy powertrain.

smart move! thast would been my next mod if i had your setup well of course after the bullitt intake mani

Ummmm... a blower isnt gonna do any good if I only have 1st, 2nd, and 5th. The 2nd T-45 is dead, so I was forced to go with a new trans.

The yoke and bellhousing were required, and I figured I might as well swap out the clutch while I was at it. I don't want to have to remove the headers any more often than nessicarry. The flywheel is in there because they told me the spec clutches are very tempermental when it comes to used flywheels.

I am hoping the stage 3 clutch isn't too bad. MPH told me the effort isn't much more than a stage 2, and it holds a heck of a lot better. Called it the "ultimate street clutch".

I am hoping to get this all done next weeked. Hell, if the bank says yes on a little loan I may be able to get the blower this summer as well

I am not gonna pay 1000 for a bullit intake, and I am not 100 percent sure that it would make any difference anyway. It seems that the bullit intake takes the place of the plenum etc, and i don't think peopple are seeing good gains with it unless you use a blower/N20.

do you have to shorten the driveshaft for the 500?
