Default Weld-In Muffler Size

I'm looking to put in some weld-in hush thrush turbo mufflers for a little bit of a sound increase. I was wondering if anybody knew the size and offset of the stock mufflers because I want to make the job as easy as possible.

I was looking to put in a full exhaust headers back but I'm a first year teacher and just found out my wife is expecting so for now I just want a little more noise.

mufflers dont usually come in different offset sizes.they are usually just "center/center" or "offset/offset" followed by the pipe size. at least thats all ive seen from being on magnaflow and summit etc.

if stock pipes are 2.5" then look for " 2.5" offset" mufflers:

ex: http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/u...asp?shape=oval

as far as the body of the mufflers is concerned id guess to be this size:

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=7994

good point, if you bought 2.25" mufflers you would need to have adapters/sleeves made or buy them which slip over the pipes that are "butted" (sp?) together.

if you are bringing the car to a muffler shop you can just buy the mufflers in either 2.25" or 2.5" and they will make them work.

if you are going to do it, id prob go with 2.5" so the muffler pipe will slide over the stock pipe, then weld 'er up!

ORRRR you can get pipe clamps(not as good as a weld, nothing is as far as sealing) and buy 2.5" mufflers that way you can have ability to remove them and separate the "over axel to rear bumper" section and the rest of the exhaust. and also if you decide to change mufflers again you can simply unbolt them

also congrats on the little one on the way!

Nothing is wrong, but the 2.25s match up better and weld up easier
