Default (A.I.T ) sensor.. need help

Hey guys, i just took my stang to a local autozone and had them pull up a code on my car. The computer said it was an AIT or IAT sensor that was bad ( cant remember the abreviation). I have a K&N cold air intake so im not sure if i need an after market AIT or IAT.. its causing it to idle low. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks

IAT = intake air temperature (it's also sometimes called the ACT, or Air-Charge Temperature). It's a small plug-style thermometer that you put in your intake tract and it tells the ECU how warm the incoming air is.

Since you have an '02 I think your IAT is integrated into the MAF... which is kind of unfortunate because you'll either:

a) need to cut the two IAT wires on your MAF harness (I believe they're the outside ones, but don't quote me on that). Then, buy a new IAT sensor (they're about $20) and then lengthen the leads and connect them to the cut wires. Insert that into your intake tubing. Your CAI should have a rubber plug/bung into which you can connect the IAT sensor.

or

b) get a new MAF.

I would opt for option A, as it's cheaper. But, option B is going to be less work, I guess. It's up to you.

Oh yeah... or that. Lol.

I guess I figured a code meant there was an electrical failure, not simply that it was dirty which I assume would just mess with timing.
