Getting hot

RE: Getting hot
Hey I just drove it up to autozone to see if it was still getting hot. It is.. On the gauge.. ( C-------H ) It was on the H about 10-15 minutes of driving normally. I stopped to see if the fan was on, when the gauge was on H, and it wasn't. I tried to spin it, and it didn't spin freely like I would imagine. Does anyone know if there is a little resistance on the fan, or should it spin with ease, and keep going? Also, would the fan alone allow my car to overheat? Doesn't seem like a car should overheat from not having a fan especially if it's only been 10-20 minutes?!?!

RE: Getting hot
Yea if your cooling fan isn't spinning.. there's your problem.
20 minutes of driving around in town can overheat the engine. Try driving at highway speeds & if your only problem is the fan, then the car shouldn't overheat, cause at highway speeds the fan isn't necessary. Don't drive too far away from home though, in case it still overheats
An electric fan should spin by hand real easy. If yours doesn't either the fan blades are contacting something causing it to stop turning, or the electric motor has seized.
