Default 1996 mustang gt- starting question

Hi i have a 1996 mustang gt 5 speed. When the car is cold it will start then die right away..then it will fire right up when i try it again.. this only happens when I dont start the car for a while. any ideas? thanks steve!

Sounds like your fuel injectors are leaking down. I have a Saturn SL2 that does this. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

As long as it gets through the winter, it wont bother me. I have a 96gt green with the same package.. gotta get used to the manual windows and locks haha

i think jc means that your fuel system is not retaining pressure over the night or whatnot. my jeep does this same thing, which is my fuel pressure regulator. on stangs with returnless or with the return fuel system, im not sure how this works. but it may help to turn your key on and off a few times before the morning startup to prime your fuel system.

Mine at least has the option 1 package that added power windows and locks. Yeah, it will make it through the winter and probably the life of the car.

Yep, that is what I am saying, it bleeds down overnight and starts with the fuel that has been leaked into the cylinder, but there is nothing in the line to keep it running.
