Lowering your 94-04 4.6 GT/Mach 1/Cobra

RE: TECH: Lowering your 94-04 4.6 GT
The only special tool you need to do the install is a spring compressor. The rest of the install can be done with basic hand or power tools. You can take the springs off without the compressor, but it is extremely dangerous. That spring has enough pressure built up in it to kill or seriously injure you from blunt trauma alone.

18s will help- 295 35 in the rear would fill that gap.
I got sportlines in my car- and i still have a gap, i really haven't seen a kit that lowers like an import, except those intrax 2.5 kits.

If you drop your ride, you have to do something to correct your steering geometry. If you drop less than 1 inch, you can have an alignment done and you'll be fine. If you go lower than that, you need one (or more) of the following:
a) Caster & camber plates
b) Bumpsteer kit
c) Offset rack bushings
The choice is up to you. You can do all three if you wish. I bought 2 inch drop springs and Ford offset rack bushings. My steering is fine and I didn't need an alignment. If you're big into road racing, then C&C plates are a good move. You can actually do all three for the maximum amount of adjustability. The offsets were not a bad install. I went with the aluminum because they are less prone to spin in the rack. I would avoid poly or rubber offsets.

If you look at the right of this page, it shows related products. I was going to get C&C plates, can I install them myself you think?
