RE: TECH: Lowering your 94-04 4.6 GT
The only thing I can think of besides basic tools is a spring compressor. We borrowed one from a local store incase we needed it but we ended up being able to just slide the springs in.

i lowered my 96 2" i got tokico springs, struts & shocks, if i dont go really, really slow over speed bumps my k-member hits and my oil pan hits, i can feel my shifter move up and back down like a 1/4 inch, does this happen to any one elss? i only hit like 2 times after i reallized what it was, so now i am really carful about bumps or what ever.

i have my car lowered 2.5 inches and scrape on the bigger speed bumps. i would suggest if you planning on going 2 inches buy the sportline springs and throw some tokico illumina 5 way adjustables in. i didnt put any cc plates on because i wanted to see first if i needed them and guess what after 6 months of driving with them on and no alignment at all my tires are perfectly wore, i have to admit it suprised me..

RE: TECH: Lowering your 94-04 4.6 GT
I'm lowering my '04 next weekend (2 inches) and I have new questions:
Prothane makes polyurethane isolators for the front and back springs to replace the stock units. Is this a good move? Because they are poly, will this affect my drop? Instead of 2 inches, will it be 1.75 or 1.5? I don't much care if I lose some of the drop.

you probably have to rent a spring compressor if your doing it yourself and don't wana get hurt lol

Anyway I don't have pics yet but i have fox springs that were cut (1/4 on front 1&1/4 on back) and it dropped the front close to 2 inches and the back around 1.75 inches. Back sits up alittle higher but its cool; looks like an old muscle car stance. Replaced the rear shocks with sensa-tracs. Rides well and squats much better than stock. Very bumpy roads are rough but most roads ride equal to stock. Speedbumps are bad only on the front cause it's lower.... haven't bottomed out the back yet.
Total paid for suspension so far was less than $100..... $40 for springs and around $55 for shocks
