JBA shorties are legal, and there are some cams (I have been told) that while they do not have a CARB #, will still pass a sniffer test.

There is a guy up here that managed to pass with Bassani Mid-lengths and a Bassani catted X. I am guessing the tech did not do a visual.

Personally if I had the choice I would do the mid lengths. I already have the Bassani Catted X, and with the mid-lengths you do not have to pull a header or whatnot to put in a new clutch.
