Default 4.6 vs 5.0

i am just wondering which mustang would be better to get. i have about $7500 to spend on a mustang so i am thinking of getting a 96- 98. or would it be better for me to get the 5.0 mustang? which one is going to be easier to mod? what are the advantages and disadvantages to both? thanks

i'd go with the 95 and get the 5.0 they have more mods i believe and are cheaper to mod because of that. the 96-98 is gonna be severly lacking in power at high rpms because of the crappy non pi heads. But i think the 4.6 exhaust note sounds better than the 5.0 plus i like the vertical tailights on the 96-98, but thats something that can be easily fixed on a 94-95. just my 2 cents

for 7500 you could almost get a 96 cobra......maybe one with over 100k miles, think about it

I would also go with the 5.0. But I hear that the 94-95 are pretty heavy in weight. so are those that follow. but who cares, it's still a five o. I would say go with that one. 94-95

man if you have 7,500...I would take that money and spend it on a 99+ GT..I see them all the time on auto trader between 6-8...start there and let the modding began.

Exactly what Steeda said. If you are going 4.6 get a PI (99-04) car. The difference is like night and day. Their cars pull, the non-PI fall flat on their face after 5k RPM. Believe me! It does not make for fun highway punches! If you want something cheap that you can mod the hell out of, go 5.0. Parts are SO much cheaper and abundant.

about how many miles do you guys have on your mustangs? is that one of the major issues i should look at when buying one or do they run good with a bunch of miles on them?

5.0 all the way for modding and to make fast. NOT for style. i have a 99 for style. i didnt get it 4 modding and speed. if i was all about that 5.0 all the way. Vortech s/c kit for 1500 bucks u cant beat that plus everything else is so much easyer to mod. 4.6 is much harder to work on and soooo much more expensive. lets put it this way if i wouldve gotten a 5.0 a put all same amt of $$$ into that that i put into the 4.6 i would be close to a 10 sec car[:@]
