Default spark plugs gapped incorrectly

i had pulled out my spark plugs from when i bought my car and they were gapped at .046. however the owners manual said they should have a gap of .054-.056.

can anything bad happen to the car while they were running like this?

btw i put new ones in and gapped them to .054.

No, nothing bad will happen. They probably just wore themselves down to that. You never know. And with a minute difference like that, you'd never notice it.

I didn't realize that they can wear down like that. Thanks.
