Question miss fire DESTROYS CATS!!!

Hello Everyone im new to this...

just wanna know if this has happened to anyone else, i washed my engine with a degreser and a high pressure washer they have at those car wash places... i tired being carefull but yeah water were is wasent soppose to... i decided just to let the water evaporate by leaving it there for day. The next day i come to check on it and its still miss firing but not as bad... then i made the biggest mistake by letting it run thinking it will get hot and help it evaporate It didint help so i took out the coils and more than half the spark plugs were under water... i dried it all up and it started just fine except for the check engine light which went off in a few mins. Then a day or two later i noticed a rattle in my exhaust, when i tapped the passenger cat i could hear something inside so i went to my friends shop to cut it off and all the honeycomb stuff inside was in pices melted... 200 dollar mistake when washing my car. Just curious has this happen to anyone else?

I'm going to steal one from Jazzer's book on this one lol

This is your first mistake. Never use a high pressure washer when cleaning your engine. Just a garden hoes will be enough. This is your second mistake. Driving it around so it evaporates is a bad idea.

Other people, myself included have got a misfire after washing the engine but I haven't heard anyone destroying their cats cause of it.

A bad enough misfire will destroy a catalytic converter. When the CEL is blinking it means that a catalyst damaging misfire is occuring.

I just use a small electric leafblower for about 10 minutes after washing my engine and that seems to work quite well.

^ yeah got it. See it got so hot that it melted it and turned it into this. The rattle in the exhaust was horrible good thing it didnt block all of the flow
